...wahine tū toa!!

People ask me about this back piece all the time so I have posted it here for comment. I love the photo because it is so statuesque and classic, yet Shelley kicks butt as a kick boxer - he wahine toa!!

The birth of ...


M'inx was born of a desire to see moko normalized and to foster a healthy identity around tā moko for teenage māori girls. She is also one response to a lack of role models for our young girls, both in literature and in visual media. M'inx is also about my own experiences growing up and will hopefully encourage other people to vigorously discuss aspects of tā moko and māori identity today.
